In honor Batman Day, here’s my interpretation of a Silver Age Batman/Bruce Wayne if it had been a big budget movie before the Adam West Series.

bizarrelosangeles:

Kirk Alyn's costume from the Superman serials of 1948 and 1950. Notice that the blue was very pale and the briefs and cape were brownish in color? The color schemes were used for filming in black and white, to make the colors stand apart.

I’m a big fan of Kirk Kyle’s version of Superman. He captured the spirit of the comics, I think much better than George Reeves who followed him. Alyn played a small part in “Superman the Motion Picture”. It was mist cut (except the back of his head) in the theater edition but you can see it more fully in the extended edition. He played Young Lois Lane’s father on the train. Noel Neill played her mother of course.

Everything You Need to Know About Lois Lane in 4 Panels by Ty Templeton

Every once in a while I see a post that some blogs about how Lois Lane is the ONLY woman for Superman and “how date DC Comics” set himWith someone else like Wonder Woman. I always assume these people gave not read Superman comics very long. Historically Lois has been more of a pain in Superman’s side than a real love interest. And he was often pair up with other women such as Lana Lang, Lori Lemaris (who he proposed to), Maxima, Lyra Leroll, etc…

lovethepinups:

Gil Elvgren - “Life of the Party” 1952 - A fascinating illustration by Elvgren and a little unusual for his style. Almost certain this is the only costumed illustration Elvgren ever produced with this much covering on the model’s body. The colors are interesting in this illustration as well and have to wonder what the inspiration was for this pinup.

Proto-Harley Quinn

An early illustration of Batman villain Harley Quinn?
